My beef was that the imagery in the future section, though very beautiful, were such cliched vaguely-Eastern mysticism that it spoiled the emotional BAM for me. The bodhi tree is kind of like crucifixion imagery: it's not automatically lazy, but it can too easily stand in for a bunch of ideas without developing them, and I found it all pretty ham-fisted.<br /><br />That said, I do like the idea of an ultra-far future in which we fly through space in little ecobubbles, contemplating the universe.
