Walking Dead Season 6 Episodes 5 and 6

Tonight marks the fastest news sites have ever spoiled a new Walking Dead for me. I don't actually care about spoilers and I thought this one was obvious anyway, though. Anyway, before I watch it tomorrow, here's some reviews for the last two episodes before this one. A double-header of dead heads: A bad episode with good old Rick, and The Tale of Abraham’s Fancy New Coat.

The Hunger Games (2012) - A New Hope

The fourth and final installment of the Hunger Games film series hits theaters this week and as I often do when a series is concluding, I'm taking a look back at where it all started. The series opened in 2012 with Pleasantville/Seabiscuit director Gary Ross's explosive take on the young adult novel series, to both popular and critical acclaim. At the time, I knew of Suzanne Collins' books only in passing and from the limp internet outrage over their similarity to the Japanese cult classic Battle Royale. I only checked out the first film after seeing overwhelmingly positive reviews, and am very glad I did; in spite of fumbles in the third installment, this is the best American film serial since Star Wars.

Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 4

Episode 3 ends with a bunch of cliffhangers. Episode 4 answers none of them. This is a good episode though: It's got a goat, blunt metaphors, and Ninja Turtles jokes.

Metal Gear Solid V Remix: Songs To Raise Dogs To

The soundtrack to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is my favorite of the year. It's a mix of original, synth-heavy songs composed by Ludvig Forssell and licensed songs from the 80's, including Midge Ure's wonderful and haunting rendition of David Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World. While playing the game and listening to its tracks, I couldn't help but go through my own playlists and mix tapes and say, "What else would work here?"

I've picked a bunch of songs that I feel would fit either thematically or amusingly into the game's world. Some of these were recorded a couple of years after the game's 1984 setting, but it's a game full of technological anachronisms, so what's a few songs out of time? Besides, the soundtrack includes Take on Me, which wasn't released until 1985 anyway. But overall, I just want to listen to and share some good music.

Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 3

After an exceptionally good second episode, Walking Dead season 6 falls on its face. This was a pretty bad episode with some annoying, vaguely shot cliffhanger moments made entirely to rile up fans rather than tell a good story.
